BASIC TRAINING RUBRICS
Student receives 1-3 points in each area of content. The skills and participation rubrics have grade scales based on the total number of points in each of these areas.

SKILLS RUBRIC
Locomotor Skills
1 PT--Has difficulty with performing locomotor movements (skip, slide, gallop, etc) during games.
2 PTS--Demonstrates the ability to perform locomotor movements but does not use them consistently in games.
3 PTS--Demonstrates the ability to perform locomotor movements and uses them whenever instructed.

Safety in Physical Activity
1 PT--Rarely uses equipment safely and selects appropriate attire, has little understanding of importance of safety.
2 PTS--Usually uses equipment safely, selects appropriate attire, describes importance of safety during different kinds of physical activity.
3 PTS--Always uses equipment safely, selects appropriate attire, describes importance of safety during different kinds of physical activity.

Sun Safety and Water Safety
1 PT--Shows little understanding of harmful effects of the sun and ways to protect the skin. Has little understanding of water safety.
2 PTS--Understands the harmful effects of the sun and most ways to protect the skin. Knows some safe water practices.
3 PTS--Understands the harmful effects of the sun and all of the ways to protect the skin. Knows safe water practices.

Rules/Boundaries
1 PT--Demonstrates an understanding of rules and boundaries but rarely follows rules and boundaries of games.
2 PTS--Demonstrates an understanding of the rules and boundaries and recognizes their importance. Usually follows the rules/boundaries.
3 PTS--Demonstrates an understanding of the rules and boundaries and recognizes their importance. Always follows the rules/boundaries.

GRADE SCALE FOR SKILLS:
100 = 12 points
90 = 11 points
80 = 9-10 points
70 = 7-8 points
60 = 5-6 points
50 = 4 points

Participation Rubric
Follows Directions/Rules
1 PT--Knows rules and directions but rarely follows them.
2 PTS--Knows rules and directions and tries to follow them most of the time.
3 PTS--Knows rules and directions and follows them all of the time.

Effort
1 PT--Participates only if activity is enjoyable. Rarely attempts new skills.
2 PTS--Usually tries even if activity isn’t enjoyable. Tries to learn some new skills.
3 PTS--Tries consistently at all skills. Always tries to learn new skills. Helps others.

Sportsmanship
1 PT--Does not accept responsibility of actions. Blames others. Interferes with others’ learning
2 PTS--Shows respect for others. Accepts winning and losing. Participates with little direct supervision
3 PTS--Shows respect for others. Accepts winning and losing. Self-directed. Helps other students improve.

Preparation
1 PT--Not dressed in appropriate clothing/shoes. Rarely is ready and focused for class.
2 PTS--Dressed in appropriate attire. Usually is ready and focused for the beginning of class.
3 PTS--Dressed in proper attire and shoes. Ready and focused to start the class.

GRADE SCALE FOR PARTICIPATION:
100 = 12 points
